EXHIBITION: DR. PUEY UNGPHAKORN: A CHRONICLE OF HOPE FROM WOMB TO TOMB

An exhibition dedicated to a centennial commemoration of Dr. Puey Ungphakorn’s birth

Exhibition Dr. Puey Ungphakorn: A Chronicle of Hope from Womb to Tomb revisited the basic human rights hoped for Thai society by Dr. Ungphakorn as being laid out in his renowned 1980 writing, “The Quality of Life of a Southeast Asian: A Chronicle of Hope from Womb to Tomb.” On view during the period in which Thailand was under military control as a result of the country's 12th coup d'état, the exhibition itself was also a platform where citizens were invited to openly share their hopes and concerns. Because freedom of expression is one of the most fundamental human rights, it was being stressed through this exhibition that it should be protected and practiced responsibly at any moment in every modern society.
